TESTIMONIALS
Mel Mag Mac Mar
Teacher
Daniel was our instructor in the workshop on musical improvisation, group harmonization, and rhythm expression. Having a group made up of different nationalities, he never seemed incomprehensible with how we appreciate rhythms and instead, he was willing to understand the differences to assemble melodies.
The workshops involved body awareness and group integration. His method is dynamic and fun but serious. As in a gig, I never felt just making noise until the click is made.

As a professional musician, I was always very demanding in my own performance of music and could not dare to improvise. Stepping out of the academic rules was scary and took a lot of effort. Then I ventured into Daniel's workshop and it helped me come out of my cocoon. No one judged me, I could do whatever I wanted, and I received only encouragement. He always found an exercise to break down the barriers. It turned out that I could do things I had only dreamed of. I am free to express and realize my ideas. Thank you!

These workshops were my entering path into music. I started playing percussions just a couple of months before that and it was all new to me. During these workshops, I learned to feel the music, pay attention to others, and listen. Playing is not only about sound, it is also about pauses and silence. Nonverbal and musical communication is an essential part of it. It became a part of me. When the workshops were finished, I got an electronic drum kit and started playing regularly. Taking part in these workshops was a lot of fun and it impacted me to devote myself more to music. I consider Dani as one of my leading musical mentors.

I joined Dani’s Impro Orchestra without knowing what to expect, but I quickly realized it wasn’t about being a polished musician; it was about discovering the beauty of group improvisation. Whether you were a professional musician or someone who just knew how to clap your hands, you felt welcomed and part of the music. Dani’s approach made it so easy to learn, not just how to improvise, but how to listen, follow, lead, and know when to step back or jump in. It was an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impact.

Workshops were significant to me primarily because they shaped and guided my understanding of music as something that doesn't need to be studied for years before you can play with others. Instead, it's like a language that you learn by conversing with others, that is, by playing with others, rather than spending years learning grammar before you dare to speak. Through Dani's guidance, both in group and individually, I felt enough freedom to sit at any instrument, knowing that I would find a way to participate in group musical communication.

The musical workshop "Just listen" improved my skills in musical expression or to call it differently - improvisation, through strengthening my own belief in myself and the inner "musicality" inherent in us all. I've been practicing music since early age, all through my teenage phase and early twenties, so one can only imagine that the music in me was "alive" and "well" but that was not the case for me or my colleagues. This is what happens when the music is only connected to the "black and white music of others," music theory, history and the science (not completely understood) behind it all. The workshop "Just listen" invited us musicians, amatures and non-musicians, to do just that - to listen. This simple instruction (along with the movement, rhythm and "bonding" exercises) allowed everyone that was really present, an atmosphere safe for free expression, with rarely excessive material, to be born into this world. Lessons learned from these experiences helped me, not just in my musical endevours, but also in everyday communication with my surroundings. The nature and the concrete jungle (people being part of it) exposes it's mysteries through sound (or vibration) hence the fist action we're ought to do is to just listen.

The weekly jam sessions have unfolded a new dimension of musical experience for me. Dani, with his boundless patience, opened the door to an entirely new realm, seamlessly translating the language of the visual into the language of sound, and vice versa, bringing it closer to my understanding. Without prior musical experience, I was deeply enriched by the parallels we crafted—drawing rhythms from different sources, myself through sculpture and material, and Dani through the medium of sound, thus discovering a shared language. He invited me to not just hear music, but to inhabit it, to participate in its very creation on a level I had never imagined. His gentle, intuitive approach helped dissolve the mental barriers built by isolation, self-doubt, and unfamiliarity. Wednesday nights became a kind of open laboratory—a sanctuary—for those who deeply feel music, and for those like myself, from different creative worlds, eager to immerse, listen, and engage. This effortless initiation into the world of music feels nothing short of revolutionary, igniting sparks of curiosity and joy within those who revere the art.
